Tenement house - Theodor Wiskott Palace
Podwale Świdnickie is a historic traffic artery of medieval Wroclaw. The old stone street located along the city moat is setting the line of the city fortification. Today this is one of the most important streets of modern Wroclaw.
Located at number 63, magnificent tenement house with beautiful facade was built from sand rock in 1898. This is a Palace of wealthy royal trade counselor and famous publisher and producer of select printing papers – Theodor Wiskott.
The design of the building was inspired by renaissance venetian residences and performed by architect from Leipzig – Wilhelm Werdelmann.* The building won the fame and delight of the city dwellers. Today Wiskott Palace is a carefully redecorated and restored monument. The Palace might be used as a diplomatic or trade residence, a site of the bank, foundation or a noble representative.
Three-axle facade with decorative heraldic, foliage and sea animal’s motives recalls Spanish and Venetian architecture. Wonderful corridors, lavishly embellished staircases, the stairs alone and the paneling add this tenant house marvelous spirit of this place’s history.
Exclusive rooms on the ground floor are majestically waiting for new tenants. The luxuriously decorated interiors are distributed around two-storey hall and are brightened by an exquisitely decorated stained glass in the roof.
The total area of the tenement house is 1450 m². There are rooms on the footing-ground floor, three storeys of exclusive office and representative rooms. There is also a lift and additional staircase. In the additional part at the southern direction are situated modern glazed office rooms. The rooms are equipped with all state-of-the art media and security system.
The tenement house is situated ca. 1000 m from Central Railway Station and 5 minutes of walking form the Market Square and the Old Town.
